Tottenham are hopeful of beating the January transfer deadline to sign Fulham striker Moussa Dembele. Spurs are keen to strengthen their forward line in the coming days as they seek a high-calibre back-up to first-choice striker Harry Kane with sources confirming the 19-year-old is a priority acquisition. Dembele, who is of no relation to namesake Mousa Dembele at Tottenham, has scored 11 goals in all cometitions for Fulham this season but the Championship outfit are willing to cash in on an acceptable bid. The former Paris Saint-Germain youngster is available for around £6 million and Spurs are open to meet the asking price as they attempt to avoid a tribunal fee when the player's contract expires in June. Goal understands that Juventus are also interested in signing the attacker as a potential replacement for Simone Zaza, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks. The attacker has scored 11 goals in all competitions thus far this season and Spurs are understood to be keen to acquire his services immediately instead of loaning him back to Craven Cottage. Spurs have pursued a strategy of signing young British players with a high sell-on value in recent months, with Dele Alli the poster boy of their recruitment drive. The midfielder joined the club from MK Dons for a fee of £5m last January and has since become a key first-team player and an England international, making his debut against Estonia in October.
