Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says Manchester United's decision to let Paul Pogba leave Old Trafford for free in 2012 is "one of the strangest decisions" he has ever seen. The France international grew frustrated with his lack of game time under Sir Alex Ferguson and left to join the Turin side, where he has blossomed into a key player for the Italian champions. Buffon says that nobody at Juve could understand why the Red Devils were willing to give up such a talented prospect, who he insists is now "one of the top players in the world". "I have been in football many years but the decision of Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United to not play Pogba and let him leave is one of the strangest decisions I have ever seen," he told the Daily Express. "Just after a few training sessions, we saw how good he was. It cannot have been the same player they saw in Manchester – we thought they maybe needed glasses! "I have never seen a player who is so good at his age. He is so strong, so technically gifted, has exceptional all-round play. "Pogba can do things only Pogba can, similar to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. United let one of the top players in the world leave but that has only been good news for us." The next chapter in the midfielder's future is uncertain, with Europe's elite reportedly lining up for his signature, but Buffon says that it would require a "world record fee" to prise him away from Turin. The keeper added: "Of course he will be linked with the teams with big money like Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City but, at the moment, he is achieving dreams at Juventus. "If any team wanted to buy him, I would feel sure that they would have to break the world record fee. "It is not up to me to speak about his future - only he can decide that. What I can say is he is very happy at Juventus - we see that every day."
